About St Paul's Players

St Paul's Players is a lively, welcoming and friendly amateur company, based at St Paul's Church in Southville.  We are not a faith group, although we still rehearse at the  church on Coronation Road, and occassionally at the Golden Guinea pub just over the river.

The group has traditionally staged two major productions a year.  However, we have an increasingly busy programme and are regularly involved in the annual Bristol and Avon One-Act play festivals, as well as staging smaller productions at several well-regarded local theatres including the Brewery Theatre (part of the Tobacco Factory) and the Alma Tavern in Clifton.

The group exists to provide members with the chance to get involved - either on stage, backstage or well back behind the scenes. All abilities and skills are welcome, and the more so if you are a dab hand with a paint brush, hammer or a needle and thread.

We also pride ourselves on our accessibility - everyone is welcome to read for parts and casting is based on ability, not 'seniority' or favouritism.  We usually find that at least one play a year is large enough so that pretty much anyone who wants one will get a part.  The main thing that is asked in return is a commitment to regular rehearsals - and the occassional social!
